North Island 17 October

We got up early this morning and arrived at the geothermal park at half past eight. It was well worth the visit. There were very few people, and it was absolutely beautiful to see. I hope my photographs capture some of its beauty.
Afterwards, we drove on to do some grocery shopping. It was lovely and sunny inside the campervan, but the icy wind rather spoiled things. We’re now at a campsite in Tongariro, a large national park. The campsite is at an altitude of 1,100 metres, and it’s cold even inside the campervan, despite having the heating turned up quite high.
The drive here was truly stunning. Snow fell in the higher areas last night, and with the blue sky above the snow-covered mountains, the scenery was fantastic.
It was a wonderful day.
