No photos today, as it was mostly a day spent driving.
This morning, we did have a walk around Whanganui, where, according to several sources, there are supposed to be some beautiful Victorian houses. We did see a few attractive façades, but we weren’t particularly impressed.
The first part of the drive was rather dull, with an awful lot of farmland. Then we took a wrong turn, which actually led us through some beautiful scenery. After that, we were back on the state highway, still just a two-lane road and not particularly exciting. Towards the end, though, we drove through a stunning mountain pass.
We then arrived in the outskirts of Wellington during rush hour, and the traffic was incredibly busy. Fortunately, we made it to the campsite without any dents or other mishaps!
Tomorrow we’re heading to the South Island. I’m really looking forward to it, as we’ve already heard from so many people how beautiful it is there.
