North Island 11 October

Today we set off early by our standards (9:30 a.m. :-). We had quite a distance to cover and hoped that leaving early on a Sunday would help us avoid some of Auckland’s traffic. The first stretch went smoothly, and even the first part of the toll road was a pleasant drive. But traffic through Auckland was busy. We understand the system of lanes and exits by now, but we still have to concentrate. Even so, we made it right through Auckland without taking a single wrong turn. The city looked beautiful in the spring sunshine.
The rest of the state highway, a two-lane road, was easy to drive and not too busy.
I’ve noticed that New Zealand is a country of prefabricated houses. We’ve seen entire suburbs made up of nothing but prefab homes. Practical, affordable and quick to build. And if you want to move, you can simply have your whole house loaded onto a trailer and taken with you.
The photos are from yesterday. There wasn’t much to photograph from the camper today.
