I completely forgot to mention that we’ve had absolutely beautiful weather since Monday. Often clear blue skies and hardly any wind. During the day, the temperature is around 20 degrees, and in the evening it cools down to 9 degrees. Fortunately, we have heating in the campervan.
We’re amazed by all the Kiwis walking around in shorts, but they don’t seem to mind at all. Maybe we’ve become a little too “Spanish” after all 🙂
This morning I went for another walk in the ancient forest, this time together with Henk. It really is incredibly beautiful.
We drove towards Wairere Boulders (https://www.wairereboulders.co.nz/the-boulders) through a beautiful area.
We did some grocery shopping in a small village, but we were unlucky: the shop was being renovated, so there wasn’t a lot to choose from.
After that we continued to the campsite. The last stretch was on a gravel road, perfectly manageable, although it was very narrow in places.
We have the entire campsite to ourselves.
It is absolutely beautiful here. The owners are very friendly. We bought steaks from grass-fed cattle. Tomorrow we’re going to try out our BBQ.
